Capital Planning & Asset Management Platform

Turning fragmented capital planning into a connected digital operating system.
Role Product Strategy & Digital Transformation
Context U.S.-based real estate & construction business
Focus Systems · UX · Data · Workflow Design

The Context

A U.S.-based business operated a complex capital planning and construction advisory process across spreadsheets, folders, documents and individual workflows.

The information existed. The system around it did not.

The Challenge

Fragmented information

Critical documentation lived across spreadsheets, folders and individual processes.

Limited visibility

Clients depended on periodic updates instead of accessing current information directly.

Manual coordination

Changes had to be communicated repeatedly across multiple stakeholders.

Inconsistent workflows

Important assessments and decisions weren't managed through a unified operating model.

My Role

My Role Discover → Structure → Design → Build → Implement

I worked from discovery through implementation.

Discover, understood the business model, users, workflows and constraints.

Structure, translated operations into information architecture and product requirements.

Design, created journeys, interfaces and interaction models for internal teams and clients.

Build, developed and iterated the platform, using AI-assisted development to move faster without cutting corners.

Implement, validated workflows against real use and evolved the system around how the business actually worked.

The Approach

Existing Process spreadsheets folders manual updates client presentations
New Operating Layer data assessments prioritization documentation financial planning client visibility

What I Built / Changed

overview assessments timeline budget clients Assessments Timeline Budget

Client-facing capital planning dashboard, illustrative.

One source of truth

Centralized assessments, documentation and project information in a single system.

Interactive client visibility

Clients access current project status without waiting for manual reporting.

Structured assessment workflows

Different assets and systems follow a consistent evaluation process.

Financial planning visibility

Relevant cost and planning information lives inside the same operating environment.

Outcome

Less fragmentation

Information once distributed across multiple files and locations became accessible through one system.

Greater transparency

Clients gained continuous visibility into progress and documentation.

Faster access to information

Teams spend less time locating and reconciling information.

More scalable delivery

The service can be delivered through a more consistent, professional digital experience.

What This Project Taught Me

Digital transformation rarely starts with technology. The most important work happened before development: understanding how information moved through the business, where decisions were being made and what clients actually needed to see. Once that system was clear, the technology became much easier to design.
